Artist Statement
I've liked to draw and paint for as long as I can remember. Because I felt I was pretty good at it I pursued a career that has allowed me to use this skill to make a living.
While I’ve used a wide variety of art mediums over the years, including digital, old school oil on canvas has always been my favorite. I describe my work as imaginative realism, fantasy and surrealism. My main objective is to create something that has personal meaning and relevance to me, but at the same time I want the audience to enjoy the work enough to want to display it in their personal space. I got much of my inspiration from the illustrators that did cover art for science fiction and fantasy books I read when I was young, like Frazetta and Michael Whelan, but also from other artists like Dali, Olivia, Magritte and Frida Kahla. Because of the admiration I had for their work I emulated a lot of their styles and themes.
