My work lie at the intersection of individual and cultural identity in the age of climate crisis. I am particularly drawn to create hopeful spaces that offers a platform for conversations about the interconnections between nature, consumerism, and identity. This fascination drives my on-going project Thingumabob Community, for which I conceptualize imaginary landscapes and bring them to life by crafting hybrids of plants/animals, known as Thingumabobs. My work focuses on site-inspired installations made from plastic, yarn, and found fabric, combined with ceramics. This process blends contemporary sculptural techniques with traditional textile and fiber arts, reflecting my experiences growing up on my family's farm in Korea and my journey as a Korean immigrant artist in the United States. Integrating discarded materials with traditional techniques, I push the boundaries of contemporary sculpture and fiber arts, contributing to discussions on sustainability and cultural representation.
